Wayne County Overview
Wayne County Online Inmate Search
Wayne County offers two ways to search for inmates online. The primary tool is at sheriffconnect.com. You can search by the offender's name, booking number, booking date, or housing facility. Results show the person's full name (including any aliases), booking number, arrest date, general charge description, housing and unit location, custody or release status, and court date.
An alternative search tool is the WCSOGA inmate inquiry system. This provides similar information and may be easier to use depending on what you have. Both systems show basic custody information only. For specific charges, court case details, or bond type, you need to contact the court of jurisdiction directly.
Keep in mind that only basic custody information is available publicly online. The Sheriff's Office makes every effort to keep the online data accurate and up to date. If you find any discrepancies, they ask you to notify the office immediately. For more detailed records, a FOIA request is needed. The inmate search systems do not display mugshot photos.
Wayne County provides two online inmate search tools: sheriffconnect.com and wcsoga.com. Both show basic custody info but not mugshot photos.

Wayne County Jail Visitation Rules
Personal visits at Wayne County jails are non-contact and last 30 minutes. Each inmate gets one visit per week. Visits must be scheduled at least one day ahead of time. Days are Monday through Friday, during three time slots: 7:30 am to 10:30 am, 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm, and 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Visitors 17 and older need a valid ID. Minors under 17 must stay in the lobby with an adult. A maximum of 2 visitors can see the same inmate at one time. Each visitor can see the same prisoner only once per week. The jail screens visitors for reasonable suspicion of contraband. All belongings get inspected when you enter the facility. Visits may be canceled for security or operational reasons.
Attorney visits are separate from personal visits. Schedule them through attorneyvisits@waynecounty.com. Attorneys need a valid bar card and ID. These visits use limited contact visitation. No electronic devices are allowed during attorney visits. Standard visiting hours do not apply to attorney visits, which can be arranged outside normal times.
Wayne County jail visits can be canceled at any time for security or operational reasons. Always confirm your visit is still scheduled before traveling to the facility.
Wayne County Records and FOIA
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office posts a disclaimer on their inmate search: "Every effort is made to keep information provided over the internet accurate and up-to-date. If you discover any discrepancies regarding these records, please notify the Sheriff's Office immediately." This tells you that the data is generally reliable but not perfect.
For detailed records beyond what the online search shows, submit a FOIA request. Michigan's Freedom of Information Act under MCL 15.231 gives the public the right to request government records, including jail booking records and mugshots. The county must respond within five business days. Contact the Sheriff's Office for the FOIA process. Bond information is handled by the court of jurisdiction, not the jail.
Online deposits for inmate commissary accounts go through a third-party service. Processing takes 24 to 48 hours. You need the inmate's 10-digit booking number and Wayne County facility number #248211. Personal mail is now digitized and delivered through inmate tablets via the "Facility Messages" app. Mail goes to: Inmate First and Last name (Booking Number), P.O. Box 247, Phoenix, MD 21131.
The jail does not accept personal mail at the WSCO-ADF address. It will be returned to sender. Books, packages, checks, money orders, pornographic material, and anything promoting disorder or ethnic intimidation are also not accepted through the mail.

Wayne County is the most populous county in Michigan and handles the highest volume of bookings. The jail system's four facilities process thousands of inmates every year. Because of this volume, online tools are especially useful for checking on someone's status without having to call or visit in person. The email inbox at info@sheriffconnect.com is for non-emergency contact only. It should not be used to submit legal pleadings or documents. No one authorized to accept legal process monitors that email.
